Intel Celeron N3450

El Intel Celeron N3450 es un SoC quad-core hecho principalmente para portátiles económicos y fue anunciado a mediados de 2016. Corre a 1,1-2,2 GHz (Burst) y se basa en la plataforma Apollo Lake. Similar al procesador Braswell, el chip es producido en un proceso de 14 nm (P1273) con FinFETs. Además de cuatro núcleos de CPU, el chip también incluye una GPU con soporte para DirectX 12, así como un controlador de memoria DDR3L/LPDDR3/LPDDR4 (dual-channel, hasta 1866/2400 MHz).

Arquitectura

Por primera vez en un par de años, Intel reformuló completamente la arquitectura de la CPU de la serie Atom. El fabricante anuncia ganancias de rendimiento de casi 30 por ciento, pero no revela nada específico sobre los cambios individuales. La nueva arquitectura Goldmont debe estar casi al mismo nivel de las APUs AMD Beema/Carrizo-L en términos de rendimiento por-MHz, pero aun está muy atrás de las CPUs Core más costosas (como Skylake / Kaby Lake).

Rendimiento

El rendimiento de la CPU Celeron N3450 con 4 núcleos de CPU y una velocidad entre 1,1-2,2 GHz debe depender mucho de la solución de enfriamiento. Si el chip puede mantener su velocidad Boost, el N3450 debe ser alrededor de 15-20 por ciento más veloz que el antiguo N3710 (Braswell) y competir con una AMD A4-7210. Esto significa que el procesador es perfectamente apto para tareas diarias (oficina, navegación) así como multitareas moderadas.

Rendimiento de la GPU

La HD Graphics 500 (Apollo Lake) se basa en la arquitectura Gen9 de Intel, que soporta DirectX 12 y también es utilizada para los adaptadores gráficos Kaby Lake / Skylake (como la HD Graphics 520). Equipada con 12 EUs y una velocidad de hasta 700 MHz, el rendimiento debe estar casi al nivel de la antigua HD Graphics (Braswell). Esto significa que solo los títulos más antiguos y simples como Counter-Strike: GO o Diablo 3 correrán fluidamente.

El chip también incluye un motor de vídeo avanzado con soporte para hardware para la reproducción de material VP9 y H.265 (profundidad de colores de 8-bits).

Consumo de Energía

Similar al predecesor, Intel especifica el TDP con 6 Watts (SDP 4 Watts – Scenario Design Power). El chip puede, por tanto, ser enfriado pasivamente, en teoría, pero los SKUs con ventiladores también son posibles.
