Intel 2430M

El Intel Core i5-2430M era el procesador dual core más veloz el momento de su lanzamiento el tercer trimestre 2011. Se basa en la arquitectura Sandy Bridge y ofrece Hyperthreading para controlar 4 threads simultáneamente (para un mejor uso del pipeline). Comparado con el más veloz Core i7, el i5 ofrece un cache más pequeño de último nivel de 3MB. La frecuencia básica es de 2,4 GHz, pero gracias al Turbo Boost puede alcanzar 2,7 GHz (2 núcleos activos) y 3 GHz (1 núcleo activo). Comparado con el 2510M, el 2430M no soporta las funciones VT-d y Trusted Execution.

Sandy Bridge es la sucesora evolutiva de la arquitectura Arrandale. Las mejoras más notables son el Turbo 2.0 mejorado y la integración de la tarjeta de video en el núcleo del CPU de 32nm.

El i5-2430M ofrece una tarjeta de video integrada (Intel HD Graphics 3000) que es evidentemente más veloz que la antigua Intel HD Graphics en los CPUs Arrandale. Ya que el nuevo GPU está incluido en el CPU, también es producido en 32nm y comparte el veloz cache de nivel 3 con los núcleos del CPU (utilizando un nuevo ring bus). En el 2430M funciona con una frecuencia de 650-1.200MHz (con Turbo Boost). Los CPUs Sandy Bridge más veloces tiene frecuencias de hasta 1300 MHz (como el i5-2520M o el casi igual i5-2435M).

Además, un controlador de memoria DDR3 mejorado de dos canales está incluido en el CPU, que es utilizado por el CPU y GPU.

Gracias a la arquitectura mejorada y el nuevo Turbo Boost 2.0, el rendimiento promedio del Core i5-2430M es más alto que el de un Arrandale Core i5 con frecuencia similar. En nuestros benchmarks, el 2430M fue capaz de derrotar al veloz Intel Core i5-560M con 2,7-3,2GHz y es, por lo tanto, adecuado incluso para tareas exigentes.

El TDP de 35W incluye el GPU integrado y el controlador de memoria.
