Intel 430M

El Intel Core i5430M es una rápida CPU de gama media para portatiles con velocidades (gracias al Modo Turbo) desde 2.26 a 2.53 GHz. Cada nucleo está basado en la microarquitectura Nehalem (Westemere). Hyperthreading permite a la CPU de doble nucleo manejar 4 hilos de una vez (para un mejor uso del pipeline. Comparado con la más rápida Core i7-620M, la 430M tiene una Cache de nivel de 3 de 3MB, no tiene VT-d Trusted Execution y características AES y una menor velocidad de reloj.

Una característica de la nueva Core i5-430M es la tarjeta gráfica integrada (llamada Intel HD Graphics) y controlador de memoria. Ambos están en una zona separada fabricada en 45nm miientras que la CPU está fabricada en el nuevo proceso 32 nm.

Debido al controlador de memoria integrado, la tecnologia HyperThreading y Turbo Boost, el Core i5-430M es más rápido que un Core 2 Duo a velocidad de reloj similar en todas las aplicaciones y pruebas (conocidas por nosotros). De hecho, la 430M incluso se acerca al rapido Core 2 Duo T9800 (2.8 GHz) en algunas pruebas (p.e. Cinebench 10 en multihilo).

Esto significa que la 430M es una rápida CPU de la gama de rendimiento y es mucho más rapido que el modelo AMD, el Turion II Ultra M660 (en el momento de su lanzamiento).

Los nucleos de 32 nm de la generacion Westemere pueden procesar algunas nuevas instrucciones para acelerar encriptados AES. Aunque esta funciones están desactivadas en el Core i5-430M llevando a algunas caidas de rendimiento en algunas aplicaciones modernas que soportan la codificacion AES a traves de las nuevas funciones (p.e. la Communication Suite en PCMark Vantage se acelera hasta un 70% usando AES en el mas rápido Core i5-520M).

La tarjeta gráfica Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD (GMA HD) integrada funciona entre 500-766 MHz (Turbo Boost) y es claramente más rapida que la antigua GMA 4500MHD. La GeForce 9400M (ION) debería ser un poco más rápida (especialmente porque las tarjetas Nvidia y ATI tienen mejor soporte de controladores que ATI hasta ahora). El TurboBoost puede overclockear la gráfica Intel HD hasta 733 MHz cuando los nucleos no está usados del todo.

El consumo de corriente de 35 vatios TDP (max.) es para el paquete completo y por tanto es claramente mejor que los 35 vatios de TDP del Core 2 Duo.
