Intel 6198DU

El Intel Core i5-6198DU es un veloz SoC dual-core ULV (ultra low voltage) basado en la arquitectura Skylake, y fue lanzado en septiembre del 2015. La CPU puede ser encontrada en ultrabooks, así como en portátiles normales. Además de los dos núcleos de CPU con Hyper-Threading con velocidad de 2,3 - 2,8 GHz (2 núcleos: máx. 2,7 GHz), el chip también integra una GPU Graphics 510 y un controlador de memoria dual-channel DDR4-2133/DDR3L-1600. El SoC es producido utilizando un proceso de 14 nm con transistores FinFET. Comparado con el similar Core i5-6200U, el i5-6198DU ofrece una GPU más lenta (HD Graphics 510 versus 520).

Arquitectura

Skylake remplaza tanto a Haswell como a Broadwell y trae la misma micro arquitectura en todas las clases de TDP desde 4,5 a 45 W. La amplia mejoría del diseño Skylake incluye más buffers "out-of-order", prefetching y predicción de árbol optimizado, así como más rendimiento adicional mediante Hyper-Threading. En general, no obstante, el rendimiento  fue incrementado en solo 5 a 10 por ciento (en comparación con Haswell) respectivamente bajo 5 por ciento (en comparación con Broadwell), lo cual es bastante modesto para una arquitectura nueva ("Tock").

Rendimiento de la CPU

Según las velocidades especificadas y la arquitectura mejorada, el Core i5-6198DU debe desempeñarse solo un poco más abajo del antiguo Core i7-5500U (Broadwell, 15 W) y es casi tan veloz como el Core i5-6200U. Así, la CPU tiene poder suficiente para tareas de oficina y multimedia, bien como las aplicaciones más exigentes y multi tareas.

Gráficos

La unidad gráfica integrada, llamada HD Graphics 510 representa la versión "GT1" de la GPU Skylake (Intel Gen. 9). Las 12 Unidades de Ejecución, también llamadas EUs, tienen una velocidad de 300 - 1000 MHz. La HD 520 en el 6200U para comparación, tiene 24 EUs.

Consumo de Energía

Especificada con un TDP de 15 W (incluyendo CPU, GPU y controlador de memoria), la CPU es más adecuada para portátiles y ultrabooks pequeños (11-pulgadas y superiores). De forma opcional, el TDP puede ser reducido a 7,5 watts (cTDP down, velocidad de 800 MHz), reduciendo la disipación de calor y el rendimiento, y permite diseños aun más compactos. Además, hay la opción de incrementar el TDP a 25 W (cTDP up, 2,4 GHz).
