Intel 5010U

El Intel Core i3-5010U es un veloz procesador dual-core ULV (ultra low voltage) basado en la arquitectura Broadwell, que fue lanzado en enero del 2015. Además de los dos núcleos de CPU con Hyper-Threading con velocidad de 2,1 GHz), el chip también integra una GPU HD Graphics 5500 y un controlador de memoria dual-channel DDR3(L)-1600. El Core i3 es producido en un proceso de 14 nm con transistores FinFET.

Arquitectura

Broadwell representa el "Tick" en el modelo Tick-Tock de Intel, lo que significa una reducción de su predecesor Haswell. El nuevo proceso de producción de 14 nm con transistores FinFET tridimensionales permite no solo mejorar la eficiencia de energía, sino también un tamaño de matriz significantemente más pequeño para paquetes y dispositivos más compactos.

Otras ventajas resultan de la micro arquitectura corregida de Broadwell. Debido a su predicción mejorada de ramas, tamaños de buffer más grandes (1500 en vez de 1000 entrada en el L2 TLB) y otros tweaks, el rendimiento ha sido mejorado por más de 5 por ciento sobre su predecesor. También hay algunas nuevas extensiones de conjuntos de instrucciones diseñados para aplicaciones criptográficas.

Rendimiento

Gracias a su arquitectura mejorada y a la velocidad un poco más alta, el Core i3-5010U termina 10 - 15 por ciento más veloz que el Core i3-4030U (1,9 GHz, Haswell). Así, la CPU tiene poder suficiente para tareas de oficina y multimedia, bien como las aplicaciones más exigentes y multi tareas.

Gráficos

La HD Graphics 5500 integrada ofrece 24 Unidades de Ejecución (EUs), sin embargo solo 23 EUs (con velocidades de 300 - 900 MHz) están activos en este caso. Similar al núcleo de la CPU, la arquitectura de la GPU (Intel Gen 8) fue exhaustivamente revisada para mejorar el rendimiento. Por tanto la HD Graphics 5500 es capaz de superar a la HD Graphics 4400 (20 EUs) así como a la HD Graphics 5000 (40 EUs), ambas parte de la generación Haswell. A pesar de todo, la mayoría de los juegos de 2015 será jugable solo con configuraciones bajas.

Broadwell es el primer chip Intel en soportar completamente el DirectX 11.2 así como OpenCL 1.3/2.0 y OpenGL 4.3. La salida de vídeo nativa es mediante DisplayPort 1.2 o HDMI 1.4a. Sin embargo, el nuevo estándar HDMI 2.0 no es soportado.

Consumo de Energía

El i3-5010U tiene un TDP de 15 W (10 W cTDP Down) incluyendo la tarjeta de vídeo, controlador de memoria, VRMs y el chipset integrado. Por tanto, la CPU es adecuada incluso para ultrabooks pequeños de 11 pulgadas o más grandes.
