Intel 2330M

El Intel Core i3-2330M es un procesador dual-core para portátiles. Está basado en la arquitectura Sandy Bridge y ofrece Hyperthreading para manejar 4 hilos a la vez (para un mejor uso de la pipeline). Comparado con la mas veloz Core i5, la i3 no ofrece la técnica Turbo Boost para la parte CPU cuya velocidad es de 2.2 GHz (máximo). Comparado con la Core i3-2310M, la 2330M ofrece sólo 100 MHz mas velocidad de reloj.

Sandy Bridge es el sucesor evolutivo de la arquitectura Arrandale. Las mejoras mas notables son las nuevas instrucciones 265Bit AVX, el mejorado Turbo 2.0 (no habilitada para la parte del procesador del 2330M) y la integración de la gráfica en el núcleo de 32nm dde la CPU.

El i3-2330M ofrece una tarjeta gráfica integrada (Intel HD Graphics 3000) que es claramente más rápida que la vieja Intel HD Graphics en las CPUs Arrandale. Como la nueva GPU está incluída en la CPU, también se fabrica en 32nm y comparte la rápida caché L3 con los núcleos CPU (usando un nuevo bus ring). En la 2330M la velocidad es de  650-1100MHz (con Turbo Boost). Las CPUs Sandy Bridge mas veloces van hasta a 1300 MHz (como el i5-2520M).

Lo que es mas, un controlador de memoria mejorado dual-channel DDR3 viene incluído en la CPU y lo usan tanto la parte CPU como la GPU.

Gracias a la mejorada arquitectura, el rendimiento medio del Core i7-2330M es superior a la de un Arrandale Core i3 a velocidad similar sin Turbo Boost. En bancos de pruebas sintéticos, el rendimiento queda casi a la par con el más rápido Core i3-380M (2.5 GHz) y por tanto es adecuado para la mayoría de aplicaciones.

La valoración del TDP de 35W incluye la CPU integrada y el controlador de memoria.
