Intel Z8750

El Atom x7-Z8750 es un SoC quad-core para portátiles de nivel de entrada y tablets de enfriamiento pasivo, que se presentó a principios de 2016. Tiene una frecuencia de 1,1 - 2,56 GHz y parte de la plataforma Cherry Trail. Gracias a su nuevo proceso de baja energía de 14 nanómetros (P1273) con transistores tri-gate, la eficiencia de la energía fue mejorada significativamente en comparación con su predecesor Bay Trail. Además de los núcleos de CPU, el SoC ofrece una GPU con soporte para DirectX 11.2 así como un Controlador de Memoria DDR3L (2x 64 bits, 25,6 GB/s).

Comparado con el Pentium N3710 similar, el Atom x7-Z8750 está ajustado para un menor consumo de energía y ofrece menos vías PCI-Express (2 en lugar de 4) y menos puertos USB 3.0 (3 en lugar de 5). Además, la GPU integrada funciona con una velocidad de solo 600 (en lugar de 700) MHz y el controlador de memoria admite LPDDR3-1600.

Arquitectura

Los núcleos del procesador se basan en la arquitectura Airmont, que es básicamente una modificación un poco reducida del anterior núcleo Silvermont. Aunque el rendimiento por núcleo no haya sido mejorado, en proceso más eficiente de 14 nm resulta en una mejor utilización del "Burst" de la CPU (alias Turbo Boost) y, por tanto un rendimiento un poco superior.

Rendimiento

Debido a la refrigeración pasiva y al TDP más bajo, el Atom x7-Z8750 es un poco más lento que el Pentium N3710 con velocidad similar. La velocidad boost de los núcleos de la CPU no se utilizará en un portátil con Pentium promedio. Sin embargo, si el TDP y el enfriamiento son similares, el rendimiento debería ser comparable. Utilizando Windows, la CPU es adecuada para taras del día a día como la navegación por Internet o aplicaciones de oficina, pero podría sufrir con software más exigente o multi tarea.

Gráficos

La HD Graphics 405 (Braswell) se basa en la arquitectura Gen8 de Intel, que soporta DirectX 11,2 y también es encontrada en la serie Broadwell (por ejemplo, HD Graphics 5300). Con 16 EUs (Execution Units) y una velocidad de hasta 600 MHz, la GPU es casi el doble de veloz que la HD Graphics (Bay Trail) pero no suficientemente poderosa como manejar juegos exigentes del 2015: La GPU también soporta aceleración de vídeos 4K/H.265.

Consumo de Energía

El SoC completo no está nominado con un TDP, sino solo con un SDP (Potencia de diseño de escenario) de 2 Watts (N3710 SDP 4 Watts, TDP 6 Watts). Por eso el chip puede ser enfriado de forma pasiva.
