Intel 5Y10

El Intel Core M-5Y10 es un SoC dual-core ULV (ultra-low voltage) basado en la arquitectura Broadwell, lanzado en septiembre de 2014. Gracias a su TDP de solo 4,5 W la CPU es adecuada para tablets con enfriamiento pasivo y portátiles 2-en-1. Además de los dos núcleos de CPU con Hyper-Threading con velocidad  de 0,8 - 2,0 GHz, el chip también integra una GPU HD Graphics 5300 y un controlador de memoria dual-channel LPDDR3/DDR3L (-RS) hasta 25,6 GB/s. El chip es producido en un proceso de 14 nm con transistores FinFET.

Mientras el Core M-5Y10 soporta "Config Down TDP" por un TDP opcional de solo 4 W, el muy similar 5Y10a no lo hace.

Arquitectura

Una Broadwell representa el "Tick" en el modelo Tick-Tock de Intel, lo cual significa una reducción de su predecesor Haswell. El nuevo proceso de producción de 14 nm con transistores tridimensionales FinFET le permite no solo mejorar la eficiencia da energía, sino también un tamaño de matriz significantemente más pequeño, apto para aparatos más compactos.

Otras ventajas resultan de la micro-arquitectura revisada de Broadwell. Gracias a su mejorada previsión de ramas, buffers más grandes (1500 en vez de 1000 entradas en el L2 TLB) y otros tweaks, el rendimiento fue aumentado en más de 5 por ciento sobre su antecesor. También hay nuevos conjuntos de instrucciones definidos proyectados para aplicaciones criptográficas.

Rendimiento 

El Core M-5Y10 ofrece un intervalo muy amplio de turbo de 0,8 - 2,0 GHz; Esperamos que la frecuencia real sea bastante limitada por el TDP. Mientras la CPU es similar a un Core i5-4202Y (Haswell, 11,5 W) en benchmarks breves o de un solo sub-proceso, su rendimiento puede comenzar a disminuir bajo uso intenso continuo. Así, el principal objetivo de la mayor eficiencia de energía de Broadwell es reducir el consumo de energía en vez de mejorar el rendimiento bruto.

En general, el Core M-5Y10 debe ser suficiente para tareas de ofimática y multimedia, y para aplicaciones más exigentes.

Gráficos

La HD Graphics 5300 integrada, ofrece 24 Unidades de Ejecución (EUs) con frecuencia de 100 - 850 MHz. Similar al núcleo de CPU, la arquitectura de la GPU (Intel Gen 8) fue completamente revisada para un mejor rendimiento. Sin embargo, la frecuencia de la GPU también será limitada por el TDP, que evitará significantes aceleraciones del rendimiento sobre la antigua HD 4200. Los juegos  actuales de 2014 deben ser jugables con configuraciones bajas y resolución XGA.

El Broadwell es el primer chip Intel en soportar plenamente DirectX 11.2, bien como OpenCL 1.3/2.0 y OpenGL 4.3. El vídeo será transmitido de forma nativa mediante DisplayPort 1.2 o HDMI 1.4a. Sin embargo, el nuevo estándar HDMI 2.0 aún no es oficialmente soportado.

Consumo de Energía

Con un TDP de solo 4,5 W (4,0 W con Config Down TDP), el Core M-5Y70 usa notablemente menos energía que la serie Haswell Y (11,5 W). La CPU puede ser enfriada de forma pasiva, incluso en tablets delgados.
