NVIDIA Quadro FX 1800M

La NVIDIA Quadro FX 1800M es una tarjeta gráfica de gama media para estaciones estaciones de trabajo moviles con pantallas de alrededor de 15". Está basada en el mismo chip que la GeForce GT 335M pero puede equiparse tambien con memoria rápida GDDR%. La FX1800M ese envia con controladores profesionales y una BIOS especial que mejora el rendimiento y la estabilidad en aplicaciones como CAD y DCC.

Los controladores certificados garantizan optimización y rápido trabajo con aplicaciones profesionales como Premiere, Photoshop, After Effect, AutoCAD, 3ds Max, trueSpace, Blender, Catia, IronCAD, Cinema 4D, Lightwave 3D, SoftImage, Mathematica... una lista de todas las aplicaciones certificadas se puede encontrar en la pagina web de Nvidia. Comparada con los productos GeForce, las tarjetas Quadro FX ofrecen un rendimiento siginificativamente mayor, especialmente en aplicaciones basadas en OpenGL.

El rendimiento en juegos debería ser similar a la GeForce GT 335M, a pesar de que los jugones deberían elegir una gráfica GeForce debido al soporte para drivers optimizado (que lleva a mejor rendimiento y menos problemas en juegos).  Aúnque todos los juegos modernos y exigentes de 2009 deberían funcionar al menos con nivel de detalle medios (mira la página de la GeForce GT 335M para más resultados en juegos).

El chip está fabricado en 40nm y ofrece 72 shaders unificados de 1 dimension. Pueden compararse con unos 300-400 shaders de 5 dimensiones en tarjetas gráficas de AMD. Estos nucleos de proceso pueden ser accedidos a traves de CUDA, OpenCL y DirectCompute para usar el poder de calculo para otras tareas aparte de renderizar imágenes (por ejemplo, para transcodificar videos).


La QuadroFX 1800M tambien soporta PureVideo HD con el nuevo Procesador de Video (VP4) para decodificar videos HD en la tarjeta gráfica. Esto ayuda reduciendo la carga de CPU e incrementando la duración de batería.

La Quadro FX 1800M soporta el intercambio automatico entre las tarjeta gráfica integrada y la dedicada usando Optimus. Las primeras estaciones de trabajo no ofrecen Optimus ya que los ciclos de estos portátiles son muy largos.
