NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU

La Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Mobile (para portátiles, GN20-E5, Max-P, ID 249c / 249d) es la segunda tarjeta gráfica Ampere más rápida para portátiles de principios de 2021. Está basada en el chip Ampere GA104-770-A1 y ofrece 8 GB de memoria gráfica GDDR6 con un bus de memoria de 256 bits. Es compatible con PCIe 4.0 y estará disponible en dos variantes diferentes de 80 a 125 vatios (TGP). Como paquete, la tarjeta gráfica del portátil utiliza GB5-256 y el tamaño del chip es de 40x40mm. La GPU admite eDP 1.4b para conectar el monitor interno.
Ya no existe la variante Max-Q (antes utilizada para las variantes de bajo consumo) pero cada OEM puede optar por implementar las tecnologías Max-Q (Dynamic Boost, Whispermode).
El rendimiento depende de la configuración TGP y de la refrigeración del portátil. Por término medio debería ser similar a la RTX 2080 Super Mobile y, por tanto, la más adecuada para juegos QHD - 4k. La de nombre similar RTX 3070 de sobremesa es significativamente más rápida.
El chip GA104 ofrece 6.144 ALU FP32, de las que la mitad pueden ejecutar también instrucciones INT32 (es decir, 3.072 ALU INT32). Sin embargo, la RTX 3070 no utilizará todas las ALU del chip. Con Turing todos los sombreadores podrían seguir ejecutando instrucciones FP32 o INT32. Según Nvidia, también se han mejorado los núcleos de trazado de rayos y tensor del chip. La serie RTX 3070 para móviles utiliza 5.120 de los 6.144 núcleos. Los chips Ampere también incluyen un codificador de vídeo mejorado de 5ª generación (NVENC para H.264 y H.265) y un decodificador de 7ª generación (para varios formatos incluyendo ahora AV1).
El chip GA104 está fabricado por Samsung en 8nm (8N), que no está a la altura del nodo de 7nm de TSMC (utilizado por ejemplo por AMD y también para el chip profesional GA100 Ampere).
